State Scraps Small Business Development Program

Funding of $310,000 for the program, financed by the state Department of Economic and Community Development and run by Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology Inc., is being eliminated.

State officials said the cut is a result of budget reductions across the board as Connecticut copes with declining revenue and other programs supporting small business take shape.

State support had been dwindling at the CCAT program, with as much as $390,000 available in 2014, said Karen Jarmon, spokeswoman for the East Hartford-based CCAT. The nonprofit organization promotes applied technologies, information technology strategies, energy solutions, science and engineering education and career development.
